Data controller: sarkidanakor · info@song2chord.com · Last updated 19 September 2026.
This page explains what song2chord.com collects when you browse song pages or upload a recording for analysis, why, and how you can opt out. The short version: the site works without an account, uploads are used only to produce your analysis, and analytics and advertising can be switched off from the footer at any time.
What is processed and why
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Audio file you upload and its analysis result | Providing the service: separating instruments, extracting chords, tabs and lyrics | Performance of a contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b); KVKK art. 5/2-c) |
| Usage events (which button was pressed, durations and counts — never song names or lyrics) | Improving the product, measuring which features are used | Consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a); KVKK art. 5/1) |
| Advertising cookies and advertising ID | Serving and measuring ads | Consent |
| Song title (file name or YouTube title) | Looking up lyrics and album artwork on the web | Performance of a contract |
| Server logs (IP address, browser) | Security, abuse prevention and debugging | Legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f); KVKK art. 5/2-f) |
Never shared: the audio you upload and the analysis output are not sent to analytics, advertising or lyrics providers. The lyrics lookup only contains the song title; you can turn it off with the Lyrics switch on the upload screen.
Cookies and local storage
| Type | Used for | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Essential (localStorage, consent cookie) | Your display preferences, section names, your consent choice | Not required — never leaves your device |
| Analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Measuring which features are used | Consent; when declined the scripts are not loaded |
| Advertising (Google AdSense) | Serving and measuring ads | Consent; without it only non-personalised ads are shown |
You can change your choice at any time from Change data preferences in the footer of every page.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or at aboutads.info. Google's own handling of data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Retention
If you keep a library, analysis results are stored until you delete them; every entry can be deleted from inside the app. Without a library the result stays only on your device. Analytics data is kept for the provider's default period (at most 14 months). Server logs are rotated after 30 days.
Where data is stored and transfers
Uploaded audio and separated stems are stored with a cloud storage provider inside the EU; analysis results, libraries and preferences in a cloud database. When lyrics lookup is on, the song title goes to lyrics and artwork providers; when analytics or advertising is on, usage events go to Google. Transfers needed to provide the service rest on the contract; analytics and advertising transfers rest on your consent, and the app keeps working if you refuse.
