Online guitar tuner

A4 440 Hz

Sound stays on this device. Nothing is recorded or sent.

Tune your guitar with your microphone, right in the browser. No app, no sign-up. It works for acoustic, electric and classical guitar, 4 and 5-string bass and ukulele.

How to tune your guitar

  1. Press Turn on microphone and allow access.
  2. Pluck one open string and let it ring.
  3. The tuner finds the string. Left of centre is flat: tighten. Right is sharp: loosen.
  4. Stop when the marker turns green. You hear a short chime and the string gets a tick.

Tune up to the note, not down to it. It holds better. If you go past it, loosen a little and come back up.

Alternate tunings

Pick any of them from the menu at the top. The tuner shows the right notes for each string.

Bass and ukulele

Bass guitar: E1 (41.20 Hz), A1 (55 Hz), D2 (73.42 Hz), G2 (98 Hz). A 5-string adds a low B0 (30.87 Hz). Ukulele: G4 C4 E4 A4. The G string is higher than the C; that is normal (re-entrant tuning).

Tuning by ear: the 5th fret method

Tune the 6th string first. Press it at the 5th fret: that note should match the open 5th string. Do the same on each string, except the 3rd string: press it at the 4th fret to match the open 2nd string.
