About Song2Chord

Song2Chord turns a song recording into something you can play along with: guitar and ukulele chords timed to the music, bass and guitar tabs, drum notation, separated instrument tracks and a karaoke mode with word-by-word lyrics. It is built for people who learn songs by ear but want a head start — the page shows what is being played and when, and you decide how to play it.

How a song page is made

Every page on song2chord.com is produced by the same analysis pipeline, then checked and curated by hand:

  1. Source separation. The recording is split into vocals, bass, drums, guitar and other instruments with a neural network. This is what makes the karaoke mode possible: the vocals are muted, the rest keeps playing.
  2. Chord recognition. Chords are estimated from the harmonic content of the accompaniment, then simplified to shapes a guitarist actually plays. We keep one standard voicing per chord name and never invent variants a listener would not hear.
  3. Key, tempo and structure. The key is found from the chord statistics, the tempo from the drum track; repeated chord groups become the "chord progression" text on the page.
  4. Tabs. Bass and lead guitar lines are transcribed note by note from their separated tracks and written as tablature.
  5. Lyrics. Synced lyrics come from the open LRCLIB database and are aligned to the vocal track with forced alignment; when the alignment cannot be verified, the page says so instead of guessing.
  6. Review. Keys, chord spellings and difficulty are checked against a catalogue-wide validation script; pages that fail are corrected or kept out of the index.

What the site is not

Song2Chord does not host or distribute recordings. The audio you hear on a song page is the analysed track's separated stems, streamed for study only; there is no download. Lyrics are shown for learning and karaoke and are never offered as a standalone text. If you hold rights to a work and want it removed, write to us — see the contact page — and it will be taken down promptly.

Who runs it

Song2Chord is an independent project by a small team of guitarists and software engineers based in Türkiye.

Corrections

Chord recognition is good but not perfect. If a chord, key or capo suggestion looks wrong, tell us the song and the bar and we will listen again. Most corrections ship within a day. See the guides for how to read the pages and how to practise with them.
